Overview
The Legacy Leadership program provides: personalized advising, financial literacy, career-connected instruction, work-based learning, and early credits and credentials. We currently offer students courses and work-based learning opportunities in the Education Pathway, where there is a focus on developing future teachers and others who want to contribute to the field of education. We also offer an Arts Centered Program in which students will learn how to fine tune their artistic talents, and a Culinary Arts class (which our hydroponic lab provides food for) that culminates in a food-handlers’ credential. Leadership development is our goal and ingrained in our culture. Freshmen are mentored by junior and senior leaders through the Peer Group Connect Program. Monthly school-wide team activities energize our school community and strengthen adult-student and peer-to-peer relationships. Formal student leadership structures include student government and the Principal roundtable. Partnerships with local community organizations include the Italian American Civil Rights League, Boys & Girls Club and Project Eats which provide career and college planning, credit bearing & internship opportunities. We offer tuition-free college credit through Monroe College's Jumpstart Program and Medgar Evers Dual-Certification Program in which students can earn an associate degree, while earning their high school diploma. The school has a history of acceptances into Cornell University, CUNY Baruch, and the Fashion Institute of Technology. We are 'The Home of Tomorrow's Leaders ' - join us!
